[From St. Petersburg Times]A former Florida judge, removed from office and sentenced to prison for trading crack cocaine for sex with a 14-year-old girl, has been jailed for violating his probation by practicing law without a license.
Louis Tidwell’s 20-year career as a judge came crashing down in 1989 when he admitted to trading drugs for sex with a 14-year-old girl. His attorney at the time blamed an addiction to crack, which Tidwell gave the girl in exchange for sexual favors for nearly three years in the late 1980s.
Tidwell pleaded no contest to 17 counts of performing a lewd and lascivious act on a child, four counts of performing lewd acts in the presence of a child and one count of delivery of cocaine. Tidwell was sentenced to prison in 1991.
The teenager whom Tidwell gave crack in trade for sexual favors also watched the judge have sex with other women, escapades which he taped.
Now the former judge is in trouble again, this time for practicing law without a license.
Tidwell appeared before Hillsborough Circuit Court Judge Gregory Holder who sent him to jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
