"Sheriff's officials have spent weeks probing suggestions that someone close to Mel Gibson's ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Oksana Grigorieva, was attempting to extort money from Gibson. No suspect has been formally named, but detectives have interviewed people involved in the couple's messy separation.Read the Los Angeles Times story here.
"Now detectives plan to interview two lawyers who represented Grigorieva. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said that one of the attorneys is Eric George, who formerly represented Grigorieva in her child custody case with Gibson. George did not immediately return a message on his voice mail seeking comment. The other attorney was not named."
Meanwhile, entertainment website UsMagazine.com reports that Grigorieva will open up about the troubled relationship in an upcoming TV interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
She certainly is milking her 15 minutes of fame, but it is hard to see a monetary settlement from Gibson at this point—or a shot in the arm to her singing “career” which was pretty much DOA despite Gibson sinking big bucks to produce her CD that sold all of about 300 copies.

The California Penal Code definition of extortion includes the obtaining of property from another, with his consent….induced by a threat to expose any secret affecting him. In addition, Penal Code Section 522 provides that if a signature is obtained by extortionate means that obligates the victim to transfer property is punishable in the same manner as if the property was actually transferred. In other words if Mel Gibson’s signature on the settlement agreement obligating him to pay his ex $15,000,000 was obtained by threatening Gibson that if he did not the tapes would be released, the crime of extortion was committed.
TMZ claims that “the L.A. County Sheriff's Department is in possession of at least one email from Oksana to Mel in which she claims [her ex Tim] Dalton physically abused her.”

Just read a story that says this loser just got the child support she receives from Gibson increased from $5,000 a month to $20,000 a month. Seems like an awful lot, but when you do the math it only comes up to about $240,000 a year, or for the entire 18 years he'll be required to pay, a total of approximately $4.3 million. Now, that's a lot to you and me, but for a billionaire like Gibson, not so much. The kicker is, she'd have been a whole lot better off taking the original $15,000,000 she was offered. If an extortion investigation is ongoing, how far and how long could it reach? For example, there is a lot of speculation about the piano player's connections to Piotr Listerman (infamous Russian pimp) and Sergei Kuzmin (Russian banker, wife is in prison in Spain for laundering). They are from the same area in Mordova (former USSR). If there is Interpol investigation for human trafficking, would that delay any investigations concurrently with Los Angeles County? Or FBI for wire fraud?
Other than country of origin, we are not aware of any linkage between any of the international suspects you mention and Gibson's ex, nor would Los Angeles County law enforcement have jurisdiction over any related investigation.

Oksana Grigorieva accused actor Timothy Dalton of the some of the same abusive conduct she is now alleging against Mel Gibson ... multiple sources tell TMZ.
Our sources -- who were privy to the allegations when Oksana made them -- say Oksana complained to Mel and later to her lawyers that she was the victim of Dalton's "rages." We're also told she complained to Mel and her lawyers that Dalton had allegedly abused her physically.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the L.A. County Sheriff's Department is in possession of at least one email from Oksana to Mel in which she claims Dalton physically abused her.
As far as we can tell, Oksana never went to law enforcement to complain about Dalton and absolutely no action was ever taken against the actor. There has never been any evidence presented of abuse on Dalton's part.
We're told ... L.A. County Sheriff's Department investigators in the Mel Gibson matter were made aware of Oksana's claims regarding Dalton ... partly because it could show an M.O. on Oksana's part.
We called Dalton for comment and Dalton called Daniel Horowitz, Oksana's lawyer. Horowitz says, "Dalton said that he spoke with Oksana and they both agreed that anyone claiming there was abusiveness in the relationship is a liar and it is a complete fabrication." Horowitz says Dalton told him, "Oksana and I are still friends to this day."
As for Oksana telling Mel and lawyers that Dalton was abusive, Horowitz says, "That is a complete lie. I challenge anyone making this claim to show their face." And Horowitz says, "This is an attack on Oksana and Tim's son, because this is going to hurt him by false allegations that his father is a loser the way Mel Gibson is a loser. Tim Dalton is not Mel Gibson. He's a fine human being."
Oksana tells TMZ, "Tim is a wonderful father. We have a great relationship. Any implication that he ever struck me is untrue. He is a very private person and I would like people to respect his privacy and to recognize the sanctity of the love of my son for his father. This is just another vicious attack on my family."

Another high-powered team of family law attorneys has quit on Oksana Grigorieva, the ex-girlfriend who famously taped Mel Gibson's crazy rants that surfaced this summer.

A report from RadarOnline, however, is claiming that it was Grigorieva who fired Trope, but that has not been confirmed. Radar is also stating that Grigorieva has hired prominent lawyer Lisa Bloom to continue the fight in her case against Gibson.
According to TMZ, Trope and company "were besides themselves" that her criminal lawyers were trying to get her on Oprah and on People magazine, saying those publicity campaigns were too much.
Grigorieva's criminal attorneys, Daniel Horowitz and Martin Garbus remain on board.

Judge denies motion by lawyer for Mel Gibson's ex-girlfriend

A judge Thursday DENIED a motion by Oksana Grigorieva's lawyer THAT SOUGHT TO LIMIT WHAT LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES COULD TAKE FROM HER COMPUTER AND CELLPHONE AS PART OF AN EXTORTION INVESTIGATION involving her ex-boyfriend, actor-producer Mel Gibson.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon said that if Daniel Horowitz, the attorney for Grigorieva, had issues with the way sheriff's officials were conducting their investigation, he could bring up the matter in criminal court.
But Gordon, who continues to handle the paternity case between Grigorieva and Gibson and signed a search warrant allowing detectives to search Grigorieva's computer, cellphone and other items, said it was not his role to involve himself in oversight of a criminal investigation.
Grigorieva's attorney said outside court that he was disappointed by the judge's ruling, saying that THE COMPUTER AND PHONE FILES COPIED BY SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES WERE HIGHLY PERSONAL (HA! WE BET!!!). But he acknowledged that there was no evidence that any of those materials had been disseminated or that detectives had not acted in good faith.
"It's not embarrassing, IT'S PRIVATE," HOROWITZ SAID. "PRIVATE THINGS SHOULD NOT BE SEEN BY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS."
BUT SHERIFF'S SPOKESMAN STEVE WHITMORE SAID THAT WHAT HOROWITZ WAS OBJECTING TO WAS STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT INVESTIGATIONS.
"All investigations are personal and private, that's why law enforcement investigators don't talk about them," Whitmore said. "The judge did the right thing by letting the Sheriff's Department do its job. The motion should have never been filed."
Sheriff's detectives continue to investigate whether Grigorieva or someone close to her extorted money from the actor, Whitmore said. The department had previously completed an investigation into whether the actor hit Grigorieva and had turned over its findings to the district attorney's office.
No suspect has been named in the extortion case, but investigators have reviewed evidence that includes text messages and e-mails, and have interviewed Gibson, two of Grigorieva's former attorneys, and others involved in the couple's messy breakup and paternity battle.
Grigorieva reiterated outside court that she was not involved in any extortion.
"I am not an extortionist," said Grigorieva, flanked by her lawyers on the steps of the civil courthouse. "I'VE NEVER ASKED FOR ANY MONEY AT ALL."
Uh, hello, dumbbell, who asked the judge to increase your child support from $5,000 to $20,000? And on whose behalf did your lawyers in the mediation ask Gibson to pay $15,000,000.000 for the takes never seeking the light of day? And whose signature was on the agreement? The tooth fairy?
HINT: When you authorize your lawyer to demand money it is the same as you demanding money. And when you later sign the agreement containing the payoff you sign off on the extortion. It’s called ratification, dumbass.

And she whines to TMZ demanding to know why the LASO has the right to go through her entire hard drive. For the love of god, she spends the afternoon in court and she’s still unable to grasp the concept that when a judge issues an order…. Undoubtedly, were I in her shoes, I, too, would worry; afterall, she insists the contents of her hard drive will reveal everything that’s happened in the last 6 years of her life. As I’ve said before, I don’t believe the Mad Mel debacle is her first attempt at extortion. I believe the contents of her hard drive will provide LASO with evidence of her other crimes.
I nearly forgot: once again, the DRW is concerned that the LASO will steal some of her un-copyrighted music “ideas”—then again, it’s nearly impossible to copyright “just an idea that comes to one’s self in the middle of the night.” Or is the entire LASO stealing non-copyrighted material a prelude to the DRW suing LASO for stealing HER ideas of love, bambino’s, green cards, and extortion?
Curiously, in LASO response to her motion, the LASO refers to the DRW as the “criminal suspect”. Doesn’t law enforcement refer to suspects as “alleged suspects”—or is LASO sending a message to DRW?
Blogo, since most of us agree that the DRW and the truth are utter strangers, should LASO and the LADA determine Mad Mel did NOT commit domestic violence; should they determine she concocted photos to appear injured; should they determine she liberally edited the incriminating tapes; and should they determine she filed a FALSE police reports, will she be charged with filing a false report? Oksana Grigorieva - already in crisis after their family law specialist quit on Sunday - is facing even more obstacles behind the scenes, as she feels she does not have a qualified lawyer who can interrogate the Oscar-winning actor/director.
Her lead attorney, Martin Garbus, is unable to practice in California after a judge rejected his pro hac vice motion last week, as Radar Online reported.
Oksana's other lawyer, Lisa Bloom, will be in London to speak before the House of Commons on climate change on the same day Mel is being deposed.
Given Garbus' inability to be admitted in California, and Bloom's scheduling conflict, it is unclear who is going to take Mel's deposition, sources report.
Daniel Horowitz is her only attorney available.

Because of all Oksana’s shenanigans, she is now without a family lawyer at a very critical time in her child custody case with Mel Gibson.
Mitchell Jacobs was brought on board last week because he is a family law specialist, and he’s gone.
“Oksana is flipping out that she has lost Mitchell, who she wanted and needed to call upon during what is shaping to be a very important deposition,” reports Radaronline.com
The lead attorney on Oksana’s team, New York-based Martin Garbus is unable to represent Oksana in Thursday’s upcoming deposition. Judge Scott Gordon rejected the pro hac vice motion Garbus filed in court last week, which would have allowed him to practice in the Californian jurisdiction.
At one point, Oksana had Sorrell Trope as her family attorney. Sorell Trope is considered the “gold standard when it comes to family law. But Trope and his team bailed after less than a month. Rumor has it that Trope wanted out after the very first week. But Trope hung in there long enough to get Oksana’s child support hiked from $5000 to $20,000 a month. She will never get another big name family law attorney to represent her. No way.
This woman is getting soooo tiresome. She says she never extorted Mel, yea, but she has also said that she never agreed to joint custody (despite initialing every page then signing a 5 page joint custody agreement) and that she never asked for money (despite an agreement for $15,000,000 she negotiated at the mediation for keeping the tapes secret) and that the "agreement" reached at the mediation was only a "proposal"--even though it was typed up, she signed it and Mel signed it.
When you add in the audio tapes that were apparently altered in the recording studio after being made, the faked photos, and all of the other lies (e.g., Mel conspired to kidnap and murder Harvey Levin of TMZ, Mel pulled a gun on her etc.) I am amazed that ANYONE gives this person any credence at all.
Too many provable lies, too many never-before-mentioned dramatic claims to stay in the limelight, too long a history of stalking then getting pregnant by rich celebrities (and only rich celebrities) to do anything but over-tax our willingness to suspend disbelief for the sake of a good yarn. Enough already.
All she is entitled to is reasonable child support. She never married Mel (let alone long term) so the grifter needs to give it up, let Dissomaster (the child support computer program used by courts to compute support amounts) spit out the proper amount of support and move on to the next rich famous guy dumb enough to believe her when she says she is in love or on the pill. As for all of this waste of legal fees, if Mel is the father he owes support. The amount of that support is straightforward. Nor, unless he is a real danger to the child will he be denied joint legal and physical custody; she just cannot win this battle. Yes, moron, we know that Mel’s ex-wife got $500 million in the divorce—she was married to him all of those years while the money was being made—NOT you.
It’s over moron, you blew the gaff by releasing the (altered) tapes. Time to move on the next financial “opportunity” while you are still capable of reproducing.
